
Food Crisis
Northwest Kenya, where people are suffering hunger starvation so fat there are forty people have died. This food shortage is causing from prolonged drought.
Even some people who live next to Lake Turkana now they cannot fish anymore. They need to move to where the lake’s water is deeper because they cannot grab food in the original place anymore.
These food shortages not only impact of people and it is obvious of the shrinking amount of some animals which are cattle, camels, donkeys are getting more dangerous. There do not have enough food afford them.
This situation has continued for five months and the situation was the worst in the past four decades. El Wak on the Kenya-Somalia border is the worst situation in Kenya.
Mr Morris called for every country to notice this problem and he hoped to get donation from every corner of the world as soon as possible or the amount of deaths will increase in quickly.
So far the World Vision’s local office had distributed to 125,000 people over the next three months but that is not enough. They still hope everyone provide additional food for them. Especially donate high-protein food for children and female.
Dominic Nutt, the charity’s emergencies specialist, said: “There are dead cattle everywhere and people have sold everything they have to buy food.”
“These are the last few weeks that many people are going to be able to survive without help.”
The president Mwai Kibaki said this drought in Kenya has been a “national disaster”.
